The Information Sharing Network
DCSS has access to: EDD employment records (wage and employer information), FTB income records, DMV records (address and license status), Social Security Administration records (benefits and employment history), federal Office of Child Support Services data (multi-state employment and assets), and IRS data under certain circumstances.
This network is most useful when activated by an open DCSS case. Custodial parents who have closed their DCSS case — perhaps because they were doing private enforcement — lose access to this information network. Keeping a DCSS case open, even while doing parallel private enforcement, preserves access to locate and income verification resources that are not available to private parties.
